Thanks for the excellent feedback Mike, Will and Dana!
Very helpful 🙂
One more question: Should they also include (LLC) after the name (i.e., Redearring LLC) if it’s a part of their brand identity offline and to a lesser degree, online?
Thanks for the quick reply!
The owners of Company B are still very protective of their legacy and recently marked their GMB page as ‘permanently closed’. They basically closed their doors and left customers in the lurch resulting in frustrated customers leaving negative reviews…opening the page could expose them to further negative reviews which would upset the former owner of Company B.
Company B’s phone number and website have been forwarded to Company A. Is it possible to open the GMB page, insert messaging re: the merger vis-a-vis Posts, Q & A etc. and then mark again as ‘permanently closed’ with the new messaging intact? Assuming that the messaging would even show considering it’s been re-marked as ‘permanently closed.’ Or is it best just to leave it as it is (permanently closed) for the next 30 – 60 days and then shut it down?
Thanks Mike and Joy!
I contacted GMB via chat and the employee generated negative review has been removed. Thing is, the 2 star rating remains. I assumed that both the rating and review would be removed as both were placed by the former employee but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of information out there about the removal of an accompanying ‘poor’rating. Is this normal? If so, is there a different process for the removal of the rating? Will the former employee now be notified that their review has been removed?
As the Local SEO world turns…
I followed the instructions requesting that Google remove the ’employee review’
including ‘re-flagging’ it, waiting 3 days and then tweeting to @googlemybiz highlighting the fact that they were an employee in my request to remove it…it still remains.
Is there anything else that you’d suggest!

Another question: Does a SAB using a residential address that they plan to hide in their GMB listing need to have that address appear anywhere on their website? I know…a counter intuitive question but the answer will settle a debate.

Thanks for the reply….great ideas!
The client is presently working with a SMM company so I don’t really want to go down that road, but the ‘forums’, local ‘PR’ etc. are great ideas. He’ll be doing Google AdWords for his DMAs as well. Love the ‘local phone numbers’ idea too 🙂
Thanks so much,
Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

Thanks Mike, Joy and Mary!
All good points. We may end up doing a TM search if the competitor pursues this issue. Funny thing is, we were using the phrase long before they came to town.
