I just had to post this. I’m managing an AdWords campaign for one of my dental clients and I kept having issues with getting the ad approved due to trademark violations. I was baffled because there were no trademarks in the ad copy.

But then the AdWords support rep found out that someone trademarked the phrase “comfort and dental”… which was why the ad was not approved.

How in the hell can a generic phrase like “comfort and dental” be trademarked???

SOLUTION: I changed it to “dental and comfort” and the ad was approved.

I am not a trademark expert… sounds very weird and very surprising.

I had this once for a client who was targeting “Victoria” (Victoria, MN) and it was trademarked because of Victoria’s Secret.
