    Hi there –

In the case in which a website is using a CDN and wants to deploy Schema for products, what is the appropriate image url to use for the image field in the Schema “settings”?

    Background notes:

The website is using a CDN offered by The Edgecast Network. (Owned by Verizon I believe). The public facing image urls are on a subdomain of the website. For example, if the domain is example.com, the public facing url for a blue widget would be

    https://images.example.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/year/month/blue-widget.jpg

The url on the actual page https://example.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/year/month/blue-widget.jpg

Which url would you use for the image URL field? The CDN or the actual url?

    Thanks

I don’t really have much experience with CDNs – but in my opinion – if at all possible – I’d want the URL from my actual website to be marked up – not the CDN domain. This is just another clue to google that domain.com has the product queried – not CDNdomainurl.com has the product queried.

    Hope this helps!

Hi Tim. I agree with Carrie. I’d use the actual URL (from your site) and let the CDN handle any URL changes on their end.
