Stop me if I’m trying to out-think the room, but since location from the searcher is a more prominent ranking factor, is there a tool that allows us to change our search location?

I know you can change the location in Google, but that’s not really changing anything.

I’ve used VPN services before, but it’s been a while. Is there a VPN service that allows you to pick your location?

I’ve used HideMyAss before- but they only have a handful of VPN locations (NYC, LA, Atlanta, etc.). I’m curious to know if there’s a tool that allows you to choose any city in the US (i.e. Virginia Beach VA).

I know that ranking reports are shunned upon by SEOs, but it’s still a valuable KPI that clients love to see.

I am commenting on this because I’m also interested to hear what people use!

I don’t know of a geo targeted proxy service but its a great idea.

    Hi Darren,

That could indeed be useful, but what about the disclaimer: Consequently we cannot guarantee city center precision, and instead refer to the “US Metro Area” which could be up to 50 miles (80 kms) of city centers, although it usually within 20 miles or less. This is usually adequate for most applications.

How useful would this then be?

    Cheers

    Greg
PS: I have been using VyprVPN recently which has a very user-friendly interface. It doesn’t offer IP locations for every US state, but offers many international locations.

Have you seen different ranking results when you use the proximal city to the query?

@Darren- Have you used that service? I checked out their website and I was totally confused on their service offering. Talk about a bad design. Confusing, to say the least.
