Hey Mary, I’m just finally getting around to reviewing your slides from LocalUp and doing research for remodelers. One of the interesting things discovered in Google Explore is the phrase “bathroom ideas” blows out “bathroom remodel” related phrases.

Anyway, starting on slide 20 you talk about IA and card sorting and I must have been daydreaming about my own keyword process because I have no idea what you’re talking about there.

Do you have instructions on that posted elsewhere you can point me to?

Hi Tony, Here’s wikipedia’s definition of card sorting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Card_sorting
I use it to help organize complex websites and/or complex products and services within a website. I find the greatest benefit of using it is when you need to get input from multiple people on the best way to organize the information on a website, which is pretty typical of large organizations.

Tree testing is used when I have a site that I think needs to be reorganized. You give testers a task to accomplish on the site and then record what they do to do it. This can help the C-suite to see that perhaps the company’s site doesn’t really work the way they think it does for users.

The online software programs I show on those slides make both of these processes easy to manage.
