A lead came across my desk the other day that could be quite promising. Thing is, they’re in crisis mode and need help. So here I am…
The account is a local Naturopathic Clinic that has had a strong online presence since the early 1990’s and always ranked well on Google in both local and organic for their services and city. They switched web hosting/development companies in July 2018 and shortly after, saw a significant drop in local rankings…and have dropped off of 1st page rankings in organic, which they dominated for years. They are in panic mode and rankings free-fall.
In an effort to help and as an immediate stop-gap I suggested that they start an AdWords campaign until we can figure out what happened and what it’ll take to return them to Google’s non-paid good graces. As well, I tried to add myself as a ‘manager’ to their GMB account but keep getting stuck. The last time I made the attempt to grant myself GMB access we got a ‘conflict of account’ notification from Google. Turns out that they originally set up their GMB under an individual account (they don’t recall which e-mail address) and following that got set up with a business G-Suite account and multiple addresses i.e. email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org; email@example.com
Google recognizes the ad…@clinic.com as the primary address for the GMB listing and supposedly that’s where the verification to grant me managerial access was sent but the account is unable to find the ‘verification’ link and information. The last message that we got from Google was for the account to contact them if they still had not received the verification information by August 22nd.
I was going to contact Google My Business Help but thought that I’d float it here first.
I’d appreciate any other ideas that the community may have to help this account and any advice re: next steps that can be provided. It would be nice if I could be the white knight in this story.
Thanks in Advance!
