A great line-up of local SEO fanatics (many LocalU faculty and forum experts included) weighed in on a series of questions around reviews for a recent BrightLocal blog post.
A few of the big takeaways for me:
1. The growth of reviews and reputation management. 80% said that offer more reputation management than 2 years ago, with 45% stating significantly more. All of this inside just a 2 year window.
2. For optimization tactics, it’s 1. Citations, 2. Reviews and 3. Links. So focus on data, then trust.
As Mike Ramsey was quoted: “Citations and links are great from a ranking perspective but reviews go so much further in helping to gets new clients or sales. Reviews influence click through, trust, branding, and every other aspect of the presentation of a business.”
3. As outlined in where you spend your time, it’s review growth. Most businesses lack sheer volume of reviews and this is needed. But what changes will take place when it’s quality optimization of reviews that businesses need and how long until that is on equal footing with review generation? 2 years? more?
As stated, nothing surprising in this post, but a nice collection of takes and guidance for the those needing to gauge the importance of reviews and their growth in many areas.
