I’m meeting with a new client on Tuesday and I figured this would be a good opportunity to ask you guys and gals what your system is when meeting a new client. The are a physical therapy clinic who currently are paying a non-local company for seo and they are dissatisfied with both their manner and their performance. Their primary concern is showing up better in local search, and they are currently not in the local 7 pack for their key keyword phrase “covington physical therapy,” though they say they used to be.

So, do y’all have a standard approach for the first meeting with potential clients? Do you show up with an audit already done to suggest certain services? Do you use MOZ/Whitespark/Bright Local/etc. to run a report to show them in the first meeting? Just curious if there is a recommended formula for success.

My normal approach is to talk a bit about how google works, the difference between organic, local, and paid search, show them their knowledge graph and how it can be optimized, and then talk about optimizing the G+ local listing as a starting point (with a Bright Local G+ Report as an aide), adding a virtual tour and photography, a citations campaign, customer review strategy, and anything else that may apply.

What do you generally do for that first meeting?

I reposted this in the “running a local SEO business” section of the forum, as I think it is a better fit. Moderators, please feel free to delete this one.
