Google Maps Highlighting Businesses That Have Posted Recently
Joy Hawkins

Today I spotted a test that Google is doing on the Google Maps app. So far, none of my colleagues have been able to reproduce this themselves.  What I’m noticing is that Google is adding a red dot and drawing attention to the “Updates” tab for businesses that have recently added a Google post.

From what I can tell, it shows up on listings that have posted something in the last 2 weeks.  I was able to see it on a listing that had a post done on April 5th but it was missing on several listings I looked at that had the last post done on April 1.

Once you click on the tab, the red dot goes away.

If this rolls out, it could give businesses even more reason to utilize Google posts by giving them more visibility.
