Google Just Deprecated the “Follow” Button and Welcome Offer on Google Maps
Colan Nielsen

Google Maps has just deprecated the “Follow” button and Welcome Offer feature that was first launched back in 2018. If you aren’t familiar with this feature, you’re likely not alone. When Google cancels a feature it is normally due to lack of adoption. Considering how little attention this feature received in the local SEO space, I think it’s safe to say that this is the case here.

According to Google, “When customers find your business on Google Maps, they can choose to follow it. Once someone follows your business, they’ll get updates about your business in the “For you” tab in Maps”

How do you feel about Google canceling this feature? Were you able to put it to good use? Have you even heard of the feature?
