Businesses 'sitting ducks' for lawsuits because websites aren't ADA compliant

Last year, there were 2,285 ADA website lawsuits filed in federal courts across the nation, with the majority in Florida and New York.

Joel: "Further frustrating businesses, there are no federal regulations to give businesses a checklist of what they must do to make their websites ADA accessible. . . .

One thing is clear, though, courts have ruled that most websites must be accessible under the ADA." Running your site with a screen reader and trying to interact with it blindfolded is a good place to start.

Mike: A ground up rebuild with new features including Look Around, a Google StreetView like feature that includes on route highlights. It appears to be the basis for a future AR like features.

Obviously it appears that while Apple is improving their Map Google keeps pushing forward.

Mike: This is a long read but takes a purely economic look at Uber and sees that their “strategy was to use unprecedented level of...funding to bulldoze its way...to industry dominance & exploitable market power...bolstered by a hyperaggressive, monomaniacal, growth-at-any-cost culture”

The author contends that Uber is essentially not even as efficient as existing cab companies.


Stranger in the kitchen: Walmart to deliver inside homes

Walmart is now offering to have one of its employees deliver fresh groceries and put them in your refrigerator when you're not there. “Now, we can serve customers not in just the last mile, but in the last 15 feet,” wrote Marc Lore, CEO of Walmart’s U.S. e-commerce division, in a corporate blog post

Mike: It doesn't seem that the existing Walmart user base can afford this, and the upscale base they may be going for is wanting healthier fare.

The Local Scroll Pack, first spotted last week, has now shown up in a greater range of categories including retail, restaurants, ERs and lawyers.

Mike: This is a major upending of Local Search results display and appears to be moving toward a broader test.
